Philosophy |
| |
The program aims to provides post-graduate training in clinical tropical medicine for clinicians to have good attitudes and be competent in performing both basic and applied research leading to the solution of clinical problems in the tropics, and to improving the quality of life of the people of tropical countries, particularly Thailand and Southeast Asia. |

Objectives |

| |
|
To produce Ph.D. graduates who are highly competent in clinical tropical medicine for both government and non-government organizations for all regions, particularly Thailand and Southeast Asia. |
| |

To produce medical graduates who are competent in performing research leading to the solution of clinical problems in the tropics, and to improve the quality of life of people in tropical countries. |

To bring about new knowledge, innovations and inventions applicable to the practice of clinical tropical medicine. |

| |
Plan 1 (extensive research project) |
| |
Applicants are required to be certified with all of the following qualifications: |
| |
| |
1. |
Medical doctor holding M.D. or M.B.B.S. degree |
| |
2. |
Clinical specialties in any of the following qualifications: |
| |
|
|
Master degree in Clinical Tropical Medcine from Mahidol University, or its equivalent from an institute approved by Mahidol University. |
| |
|
|
Master degree in Clinical Tropical Pediatrics from Mahidol University, or its equivalent from an institute approved by Mahidol University. |
| |
3. |
Board or fellowship as a clinical specialist approved by the Thai Medical Council or equivalent. |
| |
4. |
Have at least 2 research publications in an international journal. |
| |
5. |
Student must achieve a GPA of no less than 3.5 in the Master degree in Clinical Tropical Medicine or Master degree in Clinical Tropical Pediatrics. Exceptions may be considered by the Program Committee. |

6. |
Have passed TOEFL with a score of not less than 500 and not more than 2 years before the application date. |
| |
7. |
Before entry to the course, students must pass both written examination and an interview given by the appointed committee. |

| |
Exceptions to the above items may be made by the Program Committee and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies |
| |
Plan 2 (course-work and research project) |
| |
Applicants are required to be certified with all of the following qualifications; |
| |
| |
1. |
Medical doctor holding M.D. or M.B.B.S. degree. |
| |
2. |
Hold a license for general medicine in their domicile country or in the country where they graduated or have had a clinical appointment in a hospital for at least one year. |

3. |
Student must achieve GPA of no less than 3.0 for the medical doctor degree, exceptions may be considered by the program committee. |
| |
4. |
Have passed TOEFL with a score of not less than 500 and not more than 2 years before the application date. |
| |
5. |
Age not more than 40 years. |
| |
6. |
Before entry to the course, student must pass both written examination and an interview given by the appointed committee. |

Exceptions to the above items may be made by the Program Committee and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. |
