Research projects leading to the doctoral degree correspond to the strategic plans of the Faculty, Mahidol University, Ministry of Education and the country, respectively. These include basic and applied medical science related to tropical diseases and public health. The researches then cover laboratory and field disciplined. In terms of laboratory investigation the research involves for examples pathophysiology of severe malaria insecticide susceptibility, development of diagnosis kits and vaccines for tropical diseases serotyping of malaria and DNA Bank of mosquito vectors in Thailand. Field investigation covers epidemiology of tropical diseases and application of geographical information system in medical health science and well as the study of social-behavioral and environmental impacts on tropical diseases and other public health problems.
