Academic System
  Doctor of Philosophy Program is run on Semester System.
  Computation of credits
The number of credits assigned to each subject is determined as follows:
    The lecture or discussion consuming 15 hours per semester is equal to 1 credit hour.
    The laboratory or practice consuming 30 hours per semester is equal to 1 credit hour.
    The dissertation consuming 45 hours per semester is equal to 1 credit hour.
Program Start
 
The first Monday of June each year.
Language
 
English is used in the instruction and dissertation writing.
Duration of Study
  A candidate holding a Bachelor’s degree must take no longer than 8 academic years to pursue a Doctoral degree.
  A candidate holding a Master’s degree must take no longer than 6 academic years to pursue a Doctoral degree.
Registration
  Students must register as a full time students.
 
Students must register no less than 9 credits but no more than 15 credits per regular semester, or up to the recommendation of the advisors.
Number of Students Enrolled
 
The Faculty of Tropical Medicine accepts 20-30 students each year.
Educational Fee
 
Tuition Fee: 7,000 US$
 
Research supplies fee: 120,000 Baht per year payable upon thesis registration
Thai candidates should request further information from the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Tropical Medicine.
  Cost of Living: The estimated cost of living in Bangkok, including food and accommodation is approximately US$ 350-550 per month.

  Evaluation
    Student’s evaluation is in accordance with the rules and regulations of Mahidol University.

  Graduation Requirements
    Plan 1
     
1.
Pass English Proficiency Examination with a TOEFL score not less than 500 (paper-based) or 173 computer-based or IELTS score not less than 5.5 before qualifying examination.
     
2.
Pass the qualifying examination.
      3.
Complete the dissertation and pass dissertation defense required for graduation according to regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University 2006.
      4.
At least one publication or the manuscript has been accepted for publication in international peer-reviewed journal according to the regulation of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University
    Plan 2
      1.
A student holding a Bachelor’s degree must take no less than 30 credits of course work and 48 credits of dissertation; total credit for the program not less than 78 credits, with GPA not less than 3.00
      2.
A student holding a Master’s degree (plan II) must take no less than 12 credits of course work and 36 credits of dissertation; total credit for the program not less than 48 credits
      3.
Total GPA for the program not less than 3.00
      4.
Pass English Proficiency Examination with a TOEFL score not less than 500 (paper-based) or 173 computer-based or IELTS score not less than 5.5
      5.
Pass the qualifying examination.
      6.
Complete the dissertation and pass dissertation defense required for graduation according to regulations of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University 2006.
