Department of Medical Entomology provides academic and laboratory services to other institutes, hospitals, researchers and public health workers as follow :-

laboratory diagnosis of microfilaria |

providing mosquito specimens for teaching / research, upon request |
|
testing insecticide susceptibility in medically important insects |
|
providing information and advice on the control of various insect vectors |

training, both in groups and individuals, in the following areas |

mosquito identification by various methods |
|
identification of other medically important insects / arthropods |
|
colonization techniques for various species of mosquitoes and other medically important insects |

testing of insecticide efficacy |

special topics in medical entomology, upon requested |

|
| Department of Medical Entomology is an international institution for the study of insects and arthropods of medical importance. Apart from educational and research activities (academic and applied fields), our department also is important scientific resources, with well-established insectariums, national representation of mosquito fauna and collections of medically important insect specimens. We offer public services on identification of medically important insects and arthropods, insecticide susceptibility testing and educational specimens to individuals, businesses, schools, colleges, and government agencies. Apart from the insecticide susceptibility testing and educational specimens, the insect identifications is provided free of charge for single specimens and small samples. |

| Insecticide Susceptibility Testing Service |
| The Insecticide research Unit, Department of Medical Entomology provides biological testing and analysis service on insecticide products such as mosquito coil, wet insecticide impregnate net. The testing including bioassay of insecticide susceptibility of the insects (especially, mosquitoes, fly and cockroach), the efficacy and persistance of the insecticide products and repellents product followed WHO standard procedure. The insecticide research Unit has the staff, instruments and facilities to perform both routine and complex testing. We ensures timely delivery of test reports and prompt response to inquiries on testing services. |
