Visited SEAMEO TROPMED Regional Centre for Tropical Medicine
(SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand), Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University on 10 November 2010
H E Br Armin A Luistro FSC, Secretary of Education, Republic of the Philippines and President, SEAMEO Council and his delegation, paid a visit to the SEAMEO TROPMED Regional Centre for Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University on Wednesday 10 November 2010 at 10.30 hr. The visit has officially welcomed by Dr Jitra Waikagul, Deputy Dean, representing Dr Pratap Singhasivanon, Director of SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University and Secretary General/Coordinator of SEAMEO TROPMED Network. During the visit, Dr Ma Sandra B Tempongko, Deputy Coordinator, SEAMEO TROPMED Network briefed on background, roles and functions together with multi-media presentations on activities of SEAMEO TROPMED Network. In this connection, Dr Sasithon Pukrittayakamee, Deputy Director, SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand has also jointly briefed on current activities and research highlights of SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand.
On this occasion, the Philippine Secretary of Education and President of SEAMEO Council delivered a speech enhancing on further collaboration and networking among SEAMEO family together with viewing on an important of research and education developments in Southeast Asia region. The Secretary of Education and President of SEAMEO Council also observed teaching and learning of international curriculum offered by the Bangkok School for Tropical Medicine and interestingly visited Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU), to observe current laboratory research activities on malaria and other important tropical diseases.
To strengthen further collaboration and relationship as well as to share and discuss among SEAMEO’s centres and its staff members, Dato' Dr Ahamad bin Sipon, Director, SEAMEO Secretariat, Mr Paisal Wisalaporn, Director of Bureau of International Cooperation, Thailand Ministry of Education, Mr Benito E Benoza, Corporate Planning Officer, SEAMEO INNOTECH, Dr Waranya Wongwit, Deputy Dean for Education, SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand, Dr Parnpen Viriyavejakul, Alumni of the Philippine’s students, SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand Ms Vimolsri Panichyanon, Assistant Coordinator for Programme, SEAMEO TROPMED Network, Mr Irwin F Chavez, the Philippine instructor and SEAMEO TROPMED Thailand’s staff members jointly had lunch with the President, hosted by SEAMEO TROPMED Network. |
