INVITATION |

The Southeast Asian Center for Medical Malacology (SEACMM) will hold an international training course entitled “A Formal Course on Medical Malacology for Southeast Asian Countries” at the Department of Social and Environmental Medicine, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, 420/6 Rajvithi Road, Bangkok 10400, Thailand, during 9-18 July 2012. The course will be given by staff of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, and will be co-organized with Professor John B. Burch, PhD, Editor of Publications, and Curator Emeritus of Mollusks, Museum of Zoology, Professor Emeritus of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, College of Literature, Science & the Arts, Professor Emeritus of Natural Resources & Environment, School of Natural Resources & Environment, University of Michigan, 1109 Geddes Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1079, USA.
The purpose of the course is to strengthen the knowledge of those who deal with snail-mediated human parasitic diseases in Southeast Asian countries. The course will cover basic malacology, snail morphology, snail physiology, snail parasites, snail-parasite interactions, taxonomy and snail identification, and will include field and laboratory exercises. |

PARTICIPANTS |
|
The course will open to institutions from Southeast Asian countries that are concerned with snail-mediated human diseases. Due to space limitation, the class is limited to 20 participants. |
