Background and Rational: |
| |
Tropical diseases are important health problems in children, especially in developing, endemic countries. Moreover, in response to globalization and global warming, which are enlarging tropical endemic areas, and it is important that physicians taking care of pediatric patients, including travelers or migrants, be familiar with the diagnosis and management of common tropical diseases.
Department of Tropical Pediatrics, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University has more than 30 years academic, research and clinical experience and reputation in tropical pediatrics. Utilizing all available resource, this training course will provide a good opportunity to learn tropical pediatrics in a tropical country.

Objectives: |

To provide diagnostic knowledge and experience in the management of common diseases in children, especially endemic diseases in Southeast Asia, including dengue infection, malaria, leptospirosis and rickettsial diseases. |

Learning Experience: |
| |
This course consists of lectures and discussion. Case studies and ward rounds in a hospital in a tropical-disease endemic area will be arranged, so that participants will gain real experience in tropical diseases. The course will be conducted entirely in English. |

Experts in pediatric infectious diseases, particularly malaria, dengue, TB, and HIV/AIDS. |

Attendance & Certificate: |
| |
Participants will be expected to attend all sessions during the course. Travel arrangements should, therefore, be made accordingly in both directions. Participants will be evaluated continuously throughout the course for knowledge acquisition, skills, and competence. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to successful participants achieving the required standard and attendance record. |

Course fee: |

The course fee is US$ 800 per person (including lunches, coffee breaks, and travel to a rural hospital). The course fee should be paid in advance directly to the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. |
