Background and Rational: |
|
Tropical diseases cause important health problems in children, especially in
developing, endemic countries. Moreover, in response to globalization and global
warming which are enlarging tropical endemic area, it is important that physicians
taking care of pediatric patients, including travelers or migrants, be familiar with the
diagnosis and management of common tropical diseases.
Department of Tropical Pediatrics, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University
has more than 30 years academic, research and clinical experience and reputation in
tropical pediatrics. Utilizing all available resource, this training course will provide a good
opportunity to learn tropical pediatrics in a tropical country. |

Objectives: |
|
To provide knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and management of common
diseases in children, with particular reference to endemic diseases in Southeast Asian
countries including dengue infection, malaria, and leptospirosis. |
|

Learning Experience: |
|
This course consists of lectures and discussion. Case studies and ward rounds in
a hospital in a tropical-disease endemic area will be arranged, so that participants will
gain real experience in tropical diseases. The course will be conducted entirely in English. |

Attendance & Certificate: |

Participants are expected to attend all
sessions during the course. Travel arrangements
should, therefore, be made accordingly in
both directions. Participants will be evaluated
continuously throughout the course for
knowledge acquisition, skills and competence.
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded
to successful participants achieving the
required standard and attendance record. |
