Than Htike Aung graduated Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.,B.S) from Defence Services Medical Academy (DSMA), Yangon, Myanmar at 2007. After that, he served as a medical officer for 1 year. During 2009, he had a chance to study at Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Thailand to attend Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) and Master of Clinical Tropical Medicine (M.C.T.M) and graduated these degrees at 2010.

January 2011, he attended another local master degree, M.Med.Sc (Disease Prevention and Control) at Defence Services Medical Academy and graduated this degree during 2013. After graduation this degree, he was posted as Public Health Specialist and also as an Assistant Lecturer in Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Defence Services Medical Academy. He taught to the undergraduate medical students for Preventive and Social Medicine as well as to the Master of Public Health’s students for Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Public Health Administration. He also helped and gave advised to Master of Medical Science students and PhD students in their research proposal and thesis writing. He also did some researches regarding with Malaria, Urethritis, Dengue and other non-communicable diseases.

Now, Than Htike Aung is attending PhD (Tropical Medicine) (International Program), Faculty of Tropical Medicine under guidance of Dr.Jetsumon Prachumsri at Mahidol Vivax Research Unit (MVRU) with research funding from National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Global Infectious Disease Research Training Program (D43).

Than Htike Aung is interested in Epidemiology of both infectious diseases and non-infectious diseases, Biostastics, Clinical Science and Research Science (both quantities and qualitative) and Medical Education.
