Doctor of Philosophy in Tropical Medicine
   
 
  Doctor of Philosophy in Tropical Medicine Ph.D. (Trop.Med.)
   
  The first Monday of June each year. 
   
 
1. To provide appropriate knowledge and skills for competency in research and the ability to deliver technical services related to tropical medicine
2. To meet the urgent need for researchers who have in-depth knowledge and specialties in the field of tropical medicine and are capable of planning and undertaking research projects effectively.
   
 
For Plan I, an applicant must hold
a) M.Sc. in Tropical Medicine or related field or hold an M.D.,D.V.M. or D.D.S., and have had at least 2 research publications and be the first author of at least one in a recognized international journal.
   
For Plan II, an applicant must be
a) an M.Sc., M.D., D.V.M., or D.D.S. or be an M.Sc.(Trop.Med.) student who has completed the first year core subjects with a GPA of not less than 3.5, or hold a B.Sc. (Hons.) degree.
   
An IELTS score of 5.5 or more, or a TOEFL score of 500+, or a pass in the Mahidol University English Language Proficiency Test.
   
 
1. Must meet the above admission requirements and be selected for admission by the Faculty of Tropical Medicine.
2. Be a person in good health, both physically and mentally.
3. English language proficiency adequate to and understand listen to and understand lectures, read, write, and to answer examination questions.
4. Persons who do not have the complete qualifications according to these regulations will be considered by the Postgraduate Committee of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine.
   
 
1. Doctor of Philosophy Programme is run on Semester Credits.
2. Students must be full-time-student.
3. Computation of credits
3.1 Lectures or problem discussions offered for one hour a week throughout a semester or minimum of 15 hours a semester are given one credit.
3.2 Practical work or Laboratory work taking 2 hours a week or 30 hours throughout a semester is given one credit.
   
  For Plan I, the Research Plan, a maximum of 5 years.
   
  For Plan II, the Regular Plan, a maximum of 5 years for participants who hold a Master of Science degree and a maximum of 8 years for participants who hold a Bachelor of Science degree.

Plan I - Thesis 48 credits
  Ph.D. (Trop.Med.) students conduct an extensive research project. They may or may not attend course work depending on the Thesis Committee’s recommendation.

  The program consists of 48 credits for M.Sc. graduates and 78 credits for B.Sc. graduates. They are as follows:
