  Master of Clinical Tropical Medicine (M.C.T.M.)
   
Philosophy of Program
    The Master of Clinical Tropical Medicine (International Program) was established to train medical graduates to become extensively proficient and skillful in clinical tropical medicine and research on tropical diseases, cultivate attitudes and skills in both fundamental and clinical researches being conducted with responsibilities in themselves and consideration on rights of research participants in line with widely recognized ethical standards for research. Learning is to be provided via experience sharing from lecturers and group discussion, which contribute to knowledge exchange based on reasonable arguments of different opinions. In addition, treatment of and solution to problems in relation to tropical diseases are to be in accordance with body of medical knowledge in the digital age, including that medical ethics significantly adheres to respect for patients’ rights. Therefore, medical graduates of this program will be able to apply clinical tropical medicine and related researches to solve public health problems and improve quality of life of people in the tropical region.
   
Objectives
  Plan A (2)
  Upon completion of the program, medical graduates will achieve proficiency in the following areas:
  Conduct research in a moral and ethical manner, and initiate clinical tropical medicine research of world-class standard.
  Analyze main issues of tropical diseases, explore clinical information, and make diagnosis accurately.
  Explore research questions based on academic principles. Plan, design, and present research correctly. Be able to make principled and reasonable analysis and criticism on publications or academic journals relevant to tropical diseases on the basis of science, economics, logic, statistical accuracy, and research ethics.
  Build mutual relationship in the workplace. Be able to allocate jobs, make analysis on and discuss about problems of patients correctly.
  Utilize instruments to collect and analyze numerical and statistical data correctly. Be able to express opinions and present research findings by appropriate technology.
     
  Plan B
  Upon completion of the program, medical graduates will achieve proficiency in the following areas:
  Conduct research in a moral and ethical manner, and initiate clinical tropical medicine research of world-class standard.
  Explore body of knowledge to solve problems of tropical diseases in Southeast Asia. Be able to specify treatment guidelines, and follow up progress in the treatment in a correct manner.
  Analyze frequent problems, understand research systems, and be able to conduct research.
  Build mutual relationship in the workplace. Be able to allocate jobs, make analysis on and discuss about problems of patients correctly.
  Utilize instruments to collect and analyze numerical and statistical data correctly. Be able to express opinions and present research findings by appropriate technology.
   
Qualifications
  An applicant is required to:
  have graduated in medicine (be a qualified registered medical practitioner)
  have worked in a hospital for at least 1 year;
 
have a GPA equal to, or greater than 3.0, in the core subjects of semester I or graduated in the Diploma in Tropical and Hygiene (D.T.M. & H.)
       
   
Admission requirements
  Must be a qualified medical doctor and selected for admission to study by the Program Committee.
  Is a person in good health, both physically and mentally.
 
Has English language proficiency adequate to listen to and understand lectures, read, write, and answer examination questions.
Has and IELTS score of 5.5+ or, a TOEFL score of 500+, or a pass Mahidol University English Language Proficiency Test.
  Persons who do not have the complete qualifications according to these regulations will be considered by the Program Committee.
     
Academic System
  The program is run on Semester Credits
  Computation of credits
    -
Lectures or problem discussions offered for one hour a week throughout a semester or minimum of 15 hours a semester are given one credit.
    - Practical work or Laboratory work taking 2 hours a week or 30 hours throughout a semester is given on credit.
    - Field practice or Clinical apprenticeship taking not less than 45 hours per semester is given one credit.
       
Program duration
  Approximately 12 months, start the first week of April each year.
 
Educational Fee
 
US$ 8,000 plus Research Supplies Fee (to support thematic paper/thesis): 50,000 Baht
