The Department of Microbiology and Immunology was established in 1966. The Department’s objective is focused on researches in medical science and educational programs, which relate to microbial pathogens and the host immune defenses, host-pathogen interaction and related fields; especially in malaria, leptospirosis, scrub typhus, and dengue fever, and the other pathogenic bacterial and viral infection. The Department has actively involved in teaching the students in the post graduate courses e.g. M.Sc. (Trop. Med.), Ph.D. (Trop. Med.), and D.T.M.& H.
