MUTM Melioidosis Antibody Test is a rapid and reliable test for detection of antibody to specific antigen produced by Burkholderia pseudomallei (a causative agent of melioidosis). The sensitivities of the rapid test in serum or plasma or whole blood samples are 88%, 75% and 70% respectively, while the specificities are 95%, 95% and 100% in each case.  The test with a short turnaround time (within 10 minutes) helps to improve the speed of serological surveillance and clinical diagnosis of melioidosis. Early diagnosis is critical in the effective antimicrobial treatment and could reduce mortality from melioidosis.
