Dr.
Chamnarn Apiwathnasorn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical
Entomology. He is a national authority in medical entomology, with primary
research emphasis directed towards mosquitos and sand flies. He has a Ph.D.
degree from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom, and a
Masters of Tropical Health from the University of Queensland, Australia.
Dr.
Chamnarn has wide ranging experience in the entomological field and in laboratory
work, as well as expertise in the taxonomy of mosquitoes, phlebotomine sand
flies, and other flies. For several years, he has been monitoring the breeding
habitats of Anopheles dirus sl., the main malaria vector within
Thailand. He also has been at the forefront of investigations into the
leishmaniasis vector, the sandfly.
