BackgroundEstablished in 1995, Tropical Infection Research Unit continues supporting and fulfilling the Department of Clinical Tropical Medicine mandate in teaching, service and research.
Activities (TRO)

Highlights of Accomplishment (2018-2019)
•  Teaching : 6 international course of Faculty of Tropical Medicine

: 6 new students -2 MCTM, 2MSc, 1 PhD (CTM) and 1 PhD
: 2 scholarships (RGJ-TRF, FTM-MORU)

 

• Research   

– Combat against tropical health problems with special focus on malaria control and elimination.
– Clinically related laboratory research.
: 10 ongoing projects, 5 projects in the pipeline and 3 finished projects- manuscript in preparation

     

 

• Laboratory hub for Clinical Therapeutic Unit, Faculty of Tropical Medicine.
­      – Reference laboratory for multi-centers international research on containment of artemisinin resistant. (2 projects)
­      – Archiving of clinical malaria samples. (10 projects)
• Service – Training for local and international scientists on special innovated techniques (15 international groups);
­      – Human malaria diagnosis
­      – Plasmodium vivax cultivation and cryopreservation
­      – Transmission blocking assessment of malaria infection.
­      – In vitro antimalarial drugs susceptibility testing.
