“Best Scientific Paper Award”, from the Department of the Navy and the Naval Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, USA. on November 12, 1992, on the occasion of “Celebrating Fifty Years of Scientific Excellence 1942-1992 of Naval Medical Research Institute” for the research work “Protection against malaria by vaccination with sporozoite surface protein 2 plus CS protein”, published in the prestigious journal “Science”, May 3, 1991e

Award in Recognition of the Outstanding Research Work and Accomplishments, from the Department of the Navy, Naval Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, USA., August 9, 1991, on the pioneer work in the field of malaria vaccine development. The accomplishments, which were published in the prestigious journal Science and have been recognized in numerous newspaper and magazine articles including the New York Times, Washington Post and Asia Week, have revolutionized the field of malaria vaccine by establishing the importance of vaccine delivery systems in protective immunity against malaria and identifying a new target, SSP2, for vaccine development.

The National Inventor Award of Thailand from the National Research Council of Thailand, 1995 (as co-investigator) for the research work on “Immunodiagnosis of tropical infections which included gnathostomiasis, paragonimiasis, trichinellosis, cholera, Salmonella septicaemia and typhoid and detection of Salmonella contamination in foods”.
