The Mahidol-Osaka Center for Infectious Diseases (MOCID) and the BIKEN Endowed Department for Dengue Vaccine, both of which operating under the Center of Excellence for Antibody Research (CEAR), organized the Indonesia-Japan-Thailand Joint Forum on Infectious Diseases 2012. This annualForumis another testament to the strong collaborative relationship between TropMed researchers and our collaborators from Indonesia and Japan. Attendees included prominent dengue and HIV scientists from Airlangga University in Indonesia, Osaka University and Kobe University in Japan, and the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) of Thailand.
After welcome remarks delivered by Associate Professor Pratap Singhasivanon, Dean of TropMed, and Professor Prasit Palittapongarnpim, Vice President for Research of Mahidol University, scientific presentations were given. Topics of presentations ranged from therapeutic antibodies against dengue to the molecular epidemiology of HIV to an update of the collaborative projects between Airlangga University, Kobe University, Osaka University, and the MOPH.
Closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Pathom Sawanpanyalert, the Deputy Director General of the National Institute of Health at the MOPH of Thailand. The Forum brought in 78 participants from Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand.
