Background

The Clinical Pharmacology Unit at Mahidol University is

 a world-renowned center for teaching, research,

 and clinical services in tropical medicine. The unit

 is headed by Dr. Sant Muangnoicharoen,

 M.D.,

 Dr. Muangnoicharoen’s research has made significant

Research

The unit’s research focuses on the following areas:

• Clinical trials: The unit conducts clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new and existing treatments for tropical diseases. Dr. Muangnoicharoen has published extensively on clinical trials for malaria, dengue fever, and other tropical diseases.
• Pharmacokinetics: The unit studies the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs in tropical populations. Dr. Muangnoicharoen’s research has helped to identify factors that influence drug disposition in tropical populations, such as genetic polymorphisms and nutritional status.
