Environment, Health and Social Impact Assessment Unit (EHSIAU)
Environment, Health and Social Impact Assessment Unit (Former Center for Health Impact Assessment Studies: CHIAS) was established as a part of the Department of Social and Environmental Medicine. The health impact assessment of development project, especially water resource development projects has been undertaken by the Department for several decades. To fulfill the aspects of the impacts of development projects, EHSIAU has expanded the scope of services to determine the potential environment, health and social impacts as a consequence of project development including industrial development projects. In addition, EHSIAU has conducted occupational health risk assessment from hazardous chemical exposure. Furthermore, to support the need of the country in terms of human resource development, EHSIAU also organized the training course on environmental health impact assessment since 2008 and regularly organizing the annual international course with Seoul National University and Hokkaido University titled “Environmental Chemicals and Human Health”.
