Personal Statement

Dr. Kittiyod Poovorawan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Tropical Medicine. He is a medical doctor with a Board-certified internal medicine and gastroenterologist. He is specialized in both teaching and clinical research. He teaches students from the Diploma, M.Sc., and Ph.D. courses at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine. He works as a gastroenterology consultant physician and deputy director at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases.


Dr. Kittiyod is a medical doctor with expertise in internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, and clinical research of tropical diseases. His primary research area is liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, liver abscess, chronic liver diseases, and gastrointestinal involvement in tropical diseases. He is experienced in conducting clinical trial studies on viral hepatitis and tropical infectious diseases. He is part of an active clinical research team, conducting several research projects, including pharmacological studies of antimalarial, platform studies in COVID-19, and The Malaria Infection Study in Thailand (MIST).


In the bioethics aspect, he regularly attended and was updated on GCP training. He is a reviewer for the FTM Ethics Committee and the Thai Central Research Ethics Committee. In the national research service, he is a subcommittee in research of the Gastroenterological Association of Thailand and the Thai Association for the Study of the Liver. He has published more than 60 international peer-reviewed research articles in infectious diseases, tropical medicine, internal medicine, and gastroenterology, and his current and future research focuses on viral hepatitis elimination.
