Molecular Biology
The Molecular Team specializes in the molecular diagnosis of malaria parasites, employing highly sensitive qPCR assays for large-scale surveys from various specimen types, including dried blood spots and whole blood. Utilizing both manual and automated processes, the team processes tens of thousands of blood samples annually to support surveillance and track malaria transmission in Thailand.
In addition to routine detection of all human malaria species, the team is committed to developing cutting-edge point-of-care tests. Their work also includes precise quantification of parasite density using digital PCR and exploring genetic diversity and population structure through next-generation sequencing techniques
