Tropical Medicine Students Visit the Department of Tropical Hygiene

The Department of Tropical Hygiene welcomed students from the Tropical Medicine (TM) Program for a visit to learn more about the department, its faculty members, research, and various projects.

During the visit, faculty members introduced the department and shared information about their areas of work, research, and projects. Current students also shared their learning experiences with the visiting students.

The visit provided an opportunity for TM students to learn more about the department and its academic and research activities.

Professor Dr. Srivicha Krudsood, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, received an award recognizing administrators and experts from network organizations that have contributed to driving vector-borne disease efforts outside the Department of Disease Control.

The award was presented as part of Thailand Vector-borne Diseases Excellence 2026, under the theme “Uniting Partnerships, Creating Innovations, and Driving Thailand Toward Excellence in Vector-borne Disease Prevention.”

The Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) Program, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, successfully held BHI Orientation Day 2026 on 15 August 2026 at JK Commons, 9th Floor, Department of Tropical Hygiene, Tranakchit Harinasuta Building, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University.

The orientation brought BHI students together through activities designed to help them get to know each other. The program included Pro-Tips, a lunchtime meet-up, and a VR & Avatar Station, providing opportunities for students to connect and engage with one another.

The event provided a warm and engaging start for students as they began their academic journey with the BHI Program.

The BHI Program would like to thank all students and everyone who took part in making BHI Orientation Day 2026 a great start to the new academic journey.

The Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) Program, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, successfully held BHI Research Day 2026 on 14 August 2026, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the JK Commons Room, 9th Floor, Tranakchit Harinasuta Building, Department of Tropical Hygiene, Faculty of Tropical Medicine.

Held under the theme “Explore. Discover. Transform. From Student Insights to Global Impacts,” the event featured research presentations by BHI students on topics including public health, health systems, digital health, telemedicine, machine learning, and health informatics.

The event provided an opportunity for students to present their research, exchange knowledge, and share ideas with instructors and fellow participants.

The Department of Tropical Hygiene, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, would like to extend our warm congratulations to Mr. Abdillah Farkhan (BHI 2022) on the publication of his research as First Author in the international journal Infectious Diseases of Poverty.

The article, titled “Spatiotemporal epidemiology, geographic hotspots, and risk factor associations of drug-resistant tuberculosis incidence in Indonesia: a Bayesian hierarchical modelling approach,” was published in 2026.

This study applies spatiotemporal epidemiological analysis and Bayesian hierarchical modelling to identify geographic hotspots and key risk factors associated with drug-resistant tuberculosis in Indonesia. The findings provide valuable insights that can support evidence-based public health planning and targeted interventions for tuberculosis control.

The Department of Tropical Hygiene, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University successfully organized BHI Research Day 2026 on 16 January 2026 at JK Commons, Tranakchit Harinasuta Building. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, welcoming participants both onsite and online.

The event brought together students, researchers, and faculty members from the Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) program to share and discuss their research work. Participants presented their studies through oral and poster presentations, highlighting current research in health informatics, data science, and public health.

BHI Research Day provided a valuable platform for academic exchange, collaboration, and networking, encouraging students to develop their research skills and engage with the broader academic community.
