Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University hosted a press conference “International Recognition as World Class Malaria Research Center” by invited Professor Prasit Palittapongarnpim; Vice President for Research, Associate Professor Yaowalark Sukthana; Dean, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, and malaria research team led by Professor Sasithon Pukrittayakamee together with Associate Professor Kesinee Chotivanich, Associate Mallika Imwong and Dr. Podjanee Jittamala.
Trop Med researchers with collaboration of Trop Med foreign work forces published two scientific papers in world class journal; The New England Journal of Meidicine, about the spread of Artimisinie resistance of Plasmodium falciparum malaria, and discovery of “KAE609”, an antimalarial drug cantdidate, a new class of antimalarial compound – the spiroindolones.
