Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University together with Thailand Towards Excellence in Clinical Trials (ThaiTECT) hosted 16th ThaiTECT Annual Meeting 2016 with the conference theme ‘From Pre-Clinical to Early Phase Clinical Trials: Challenges and Opportunities in Translational Research’. Professor Yaowalark Sukthana, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University chaired the opening ceremony while Professor Banchong Mahaisavariya, Vice President of Mahidol University gave a welcome remark and Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology gave an opening remark. Follow by a keynote lecture titled ‘Policy challenges for medical product development in Thailand’ by Professor Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong, Former Deputy Prime Minister, Former Minister of Science and Technology and Senior Specialist to NSTDA. On the closing ceremony on August 5th, 2016 Professor Yaowalrk Sukthana, Dean of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University handovered of ThaiTECT Annual Meeting in 2017 to Dr. Chaiyos Kunanusont, M.D., Director of Bangkok Health Research Center. This meeting was held during 4-5 August 2016 at The Sukosol, Bangkok, Thailand.
