Research

Dr. Parnpen is an established pathologist with expertise in tropical diseases, especially in the pathology and pathogenesis of Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Her research focuses on developing new ideas and concepts which help explain and understand the pathogenesis of severe P. falciparum malaria. Over the years, she has published a number of important papers and led several research projects which unraveled the sophisticated mechanisms of malaria parasite survival in human, human immune response against malaria, and the damage inflicted by the disease. The findings have served as a guideline for the development of potential adjuvant drugs and management of acute complications of severe P. falciparum malaria.
