Dr. Polrat Wilairatana is a Professor
in the Department of Clinical Tropical Medicine. He graduated from Mahidol
University with a Doctor of Medicine degree, obtained his M.Sc. in Internal
Medicine from Chulalongkorn University, and Ph.D. in Tropical Medicine from
Mahidol University. He holds a number of diplomas, including Thai Board of
Internal Medicine-subspecialty Gastroenterology and Thai Board of Internal
Medicine-subspecialty Infectious Diseases from the Thai Medical Council, to
name just a few. Dr Polrat is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians
(FRCP), Thailand, Fellow of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine
(FACTM), Australia, and Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology
(FACG), USA.
Dr. Polrat is a medical doctor
with expertise in malaria, gastroenterology, and internal medicine. He is an
authority in research aiming to improve case management of malaria, including
antimalarial drug trials, clinical pharmacology of adjuvant drugs, nursing and
intensive care, epidemiology of drug resistance, and related research in case
management of uncomplicated and complicated/severe malaria. He is also largely
involved in research related to anti-malarial drug resistance and clinical
management.
