Background

Dr. Narisara is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She is a world-renowned authority in melioidosis research. She has led several funded projects on melioidosis in Thailand and published numerous papers in international and peer-reviewed journals, leading to further understanding of the bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei and the pathogenesis of melioidosis.

Research

Dr. Narisara is an expert in bacterial infections, with emphasis on melioidosis and antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. She has studied the interactions between the pathogen and human host in melioidosis for over 25 years, combining laboratory investigations with clinical studies. She is especially interested in the development of improved methods of diagnosis, vaccine and treatment for this neglected tropical disease.
