Background

Dr. Sumate Ampawong is Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology. He is involved in research in the department and teaching at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine. He has a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Tropical Medicine, both from the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University.

Research

Dr. Sumate is expert in toxicologic and tropical pathology, and pathogenesis of scedosporiosis and severe falciparum malaria. In addition, he is experienced in evaluating the efficacy of Thai traditional medicine to non-communicable diseases in vivo. He is also adept in utilizing electron microscopy focusing on mitochondrial architecture, which is one of the academic services offered by the Department of Tropical Pathology.
