Background

Assistant Professor Thanat Chookajorn is Head of the Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine Unit. He obtained his B.Sc. in Medical Sciences from Mahidol University. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology from Cornell University and continued his research career as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. His research is shedding light on the malaria drug-resistance situation in Thailand and neighboring regions.

Research

Dr. Thanat is expert in genomics and evolution biology with emphasis on malaria. He has a special interest in discovering anti-malarial drug resistance mechanisms, leading to development of chemical compounds that target those mechanisms.
