Background

Dr. Pornsawan is Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She obtained her B.Sc. in Radiological Technology and completed her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Tropical Medicine at Mahidol University. She teaches students from the Diploma, M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine.

Research

Dr. Pornsawan has a broad background in the molecular diagnosis of viral infections as well as tissue culture. Her expertise includes medical virology and molecular typing. She is especially interested in improving a developed rapid diagnostic test kit for zika and chikungunya virus. Dr. Pornsawan has established collaborations with local and foreign institutions on the study of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika.
