Background

Dr. Yanin is Assistant Professor in the Department of Social and Environmental Medicine. She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and M.Sc. degree in Aquatic Animal Diseases, both from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She obtained her Doctor of Science degree in Marine Life Science from Jeju National University, South Korea. She is involved in research in the department and teaching at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine. She heads the Applied Malacology Unit and is Curator of Mollusk Museum at the Department of Social and Environmental Medicine. She is the Head of the Laboratory Animal Science Unit, as well.

Research

Dr. Yanin is expert in medical malacology. Her research includes reproductive study in mollusks, disease and parasite in fish and shellfish, and histopathology of shellfish diseases. She is also a specialist in environmental health impact assessment, where she evaluates the health impact of developmental projects (e.g. water reservoir) to a particular community. She is very interested in studies involving nail-mediated parasitic diseases such as schistosomiasis, and is especially interested in snail control and mollusk biodiversity.
