Background

Dr. Pattaneeya Prangthip is Assistant Professor in the Department of Tropical Nutrition & Food Science. She received her B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Silapakorn University, Thailand. She has an M.Sc. degree in Food Technology from University of New South Wale, Australia, and a Ph.D. degree in Nutrition from Mahidol University, Thailand. She teaches and supervises students from the Diploma, M.Sc. and Ph.D. courses at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine in the topics related to tropical nutrition and food science.

Dr Pattaneeya is a nutritionist specializing in evaluating the efficacy of antioxidant rich fruits to non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and obesity, using animal models (e.g. rats). She has special interest in antioxidant analysis, bioavailability of bioactive compounds, and metabolism of obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus.
