Background

Dr. Pornpan Pumirat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She obtained her B.Sc. in Medical Technology from Chulalongkorn University and Ph.D. in Immunology from Mahidol University, Thailand. She is involved in research in the Department and teaching at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Pornpan’s areas of research expertise are microbiology, immunology, and molecular techniques, with special focus on Burkholderia pseudomallei, a bacterium that causes melioidosis. She is involved in numerous research activities leading to further understanding of Burkholderia pseudomallei.
