Background

Dr. Pongrama Ramasoota is Collaborative Professor at Osaka University and Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Environmental Medicine, Mahidol University. He received Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kasetsart University and Master of Public Health (Urban Health) from Mahidol University. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Microbiology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Science, Uppsala, Sweden. He teaches at the Bangkok School of Tropical Medicine and leads a team of researchers at the Center of Excellence for Antibody Research (CEAR).

Research

Dr. Pongrama is an authority in antibody research, with specialization on characterization and production of therapeutic human monoclonal antibodies against dengue virus. He led the invention of a neutralizing human monoclonal antibody that has 96-100% killing activity against all serotypes of dengue virus. His expertise include DNA vaccine development for dengue and canine parvo virus, as well as developing improved diagnostic tests for dengue, tuberculosis, and foot and mouth disease virus.
