Research

Dr. Jiraporn’s research expertise include medical entomology, molecular biology, and molecular taxonomy. Her primary research is molecular identification of medically important arthropods using DNA barcoding, a method that uses universal primers designed on the DNA of mitochondria – an organelle found in all higher cells. She is interested in developing new methods of solving questions regarding species complex in arthropod populations. In addition, her research has focused on vector control in terms of development of natural plant-derived products for insecticides and repellents.
