Procedures and Regulations for Laboratory Animal Users
- Every protocol must be approved by FTM-IACUC.
- Before introducing laboratory animals to the LAU, you must submit the 'LAU01 Laboratory Animal Intake Form' at least one day before the animals arrive.
- Before entering the animal facility, animal users should wear the provided lab coat and shoes, and use gloves when handling animals.
- Any experiment involving animals, such as injection, blood collection, necropsy, or euthanasia, must be performed only in the procedure room, not in the animal room.
- Animal users must notify LAU staff in advance of any after-hours entry to the facility.
- Animal users must strictly follow the protocol approved by the FTM-IACUC, and details of the animal experiment must be recorded and made available for review at all times.
- Lab animal technicians are available to assist investigators. Please complete and submit the ‘LAU02 Laboratory Animal Procedure Request Form' at least one day in advance.
- The movement of animals and animal cages outside the LAU is not allowed, except with specific permission under certain protocols.
- Proper use of animals includes the avoidance or minimization of discomfort, distress, and pain.
